The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has recognized several outpatient specialty programs at Roper Hospital. These include those for brain injury, spinal cord injury and stroke. Accreditation speaks to our commitment to high-quality care, patient safety and excellent service delivery.

Our rehabilitation team is here to help you rebuild, adapt and move forward with care that’s centered on your goals. Each hospital offers unique treatment modalities. Your doctor may recommend a specific option based on your individual rehabilitation needs. 
 
Our experts treat a variety of conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Balance disorders and fall risk assessments
  • Deconditioning and return-to-activity assistance
  • Hand and upper-extremity conditions
  • Lymphedema and swelling management
  • Neurological conditions (stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury)
  • Orthopedic injuries and post-surgical recovery
  • Speech, language, cognition and swallowing concerns

All of our therapies require a doctor’s referral and are available in outpatient settings.

Your recovery care plan may include:

  • Occupational and hand therapy to promote activities for daily living 
  • Physical therapy to reduce pain and increase strength, mobility and balance
  • Speech-language therapy to improve communication and swallowing conditions

On your first outpatient visit, our team will talk with you about your health history and goals. We may also do an evaluation to better understand your specific needs. Based on what we learn, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan for your recovery journey.

Please bring: 

  • A list of all your current medications, prescription and over-the-counter
  • Completed forms
  • Your health insurance card 
  • Your photo identification
