Every patient is unique, which means every patient’s wound is unique. With that in mind, we take a personalized approach to treatment and develop a plan that fits your specific needs.
Before starting treatment, we’ll sit down with you for a thorough evaluation to learn more about your health history. In some cases, we may ask you to undergo tests before starting treatment, such as diagnostic imaging or vascular testing. All of our wound care treatment and testing services are available under one roof, so you don’t have to worry about traveling to multiple locations for care.
Our program focuses on the latest evidence-based treatments for chronic wounds, including:
- Compression therapy
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Negative-pressure wound therapy
- Skin substitutes
- State-of-the-art dressings
Most patients who need wound care will visit us once a week for treatment. It’s important that you stay involved with your care, so we’ll make sure to answer any questions and show you how to care for your wound.
Our team will also use these visits to check up on your overall health and talk with you about diabetes management, healthy eating and exercise. We can also coordinate referrals for diabetes education if needed.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
The Roper St. Francis Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine Program is accredited with distinction by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society. This accreditation certifies our expertise, positive patient outcomes and dedication to evidence-based treatment.
Hyperbaric oxygen treatments help increase the oxygen flow in your body’s tissue, which improves healing. We deliver this treatment in a special chamber that has 100% oxygen. The program has three hyperbaric chambers at Roper Hospital. Each chamber has wide openings and plenty of space to make sure you feel comfortable during treatment.
Most patients who undergo this hyperbaric oxygen therapy have daily treatment. These daily sessions typically take place over eight weeks.
Multidisciplinary amputation prevention program
At Roper St. Francis Healthcare, we believe that saving a limb is saving a life. That’s why we’ve created the Lowcountry’s only multidisciplinary amputation prevention program.
This program brings together experts from various specialties to create a treatment plan that helps you heal and avoids amputation. This team will also track your progress and collaborate on treatment changes if needed. Our team includes:
- Hospitalists
- Interventional radiologists
- Orthopedic surgeons
- Podiatrists
- Rehabilitation medicine specialists
- Vascular surgeons
