Woman gives birth to baby in car at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital
Roper St. Francis Healthcare security and nursing staff sprang into action outside of Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital to care for a woman who had just delivered a baby inside her car on Wednesday morning.
Prince Scott just couldn’t wait to say hello to everyone inside the hospital. With only a few pushes from mom, he came out as she was in the passenger seat of her car outside of the hospital’s Women’s and Children’s Center located in West Ashley.
Dad was at the wheel of the car at the time and ran inside to get help.
Security Guard Janelle Barr was first on scene to comfort the mom, Lauren Waiters-Scott, and baby Prince. Barr says she just focused on mom and baby and knew medical staff would be there in no time.
Medical staff at Bon Secours St. Francis say since this is Scott’s sixth child, her newborn can come very fast with very little labor or pushing needed.
This is the second birth inside a car at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in the past six months. In December, 2018 nursing staff helped a woman deliver a baby girl on the passenger seat of a car.
