Wednesday, June 9, 2021 - When and where you can get tested for COVID-19 at Roper St. Francis Healthcare

If you’re fully vaccinated, ready for an international trip and need a COVID-19 test, Roper St. Francis Healthcare has you covered.

Many countries are requiring a PCR test for COVID-19, which detects whether the viral genetic material is present, rather than an antibody test, which can indicate whether you’ve developed antibodies to the virus. Please review the airline or destination requirements for COVID-19 testing as well as your passport prior to testing and notify Roper St. Francis Healthcare of any mandates.

All five Roper St. Francis Express Care locations are equipped to perform a rapid PCR test for COVID-19, and a doctor’s order is required to be tested. If you already have a doctor’s order, you can walk in to any Express Care daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. for the test.

If you do not have an order, you will have to be seen by an Express Care physician who will decide whether to order a test. If you have a primary care physician, you can reach out to that doctor to request a test.

The COVID-19 tests available at Roper St. Francis Express Care can be processed in as quickly as 20 minutes. Some COVID-19 tests also are available at Roper St. Francis Physician Partners doctors’ offices, and those generally are processed elsewhere in Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Results from those tests are available no later than 8 p.m. the following day.

The cost of the test can vary, depending on the patient’s insurance as well as whether a doctor’s visit is included. The test alone costs $104 for a self-pay patient.
