Roper St. Francis Healthcare to offer COVID-19 vaccination at Roper St. Francis Express Cares
Roper St. Francis Healthcare soon will enhance opportunities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by offering additional vaccination locations.
In January, the healthcare system launched a mass vaccination site at the North Charleston Coliseum, which was the first of its kind statewide and became a model for others. The Vaccination Drive-Thru has been critical in enabling safe and efficient vaccination for more than 34,000 Lowcountry residents.
Now that vaccination appointments are slowing, Roper St. Francis Healthcare will transition its vaccination strategy by offering the COVID-19 vaccine starting in June at some of its conveniently located Express Cares, which are on James Island, West Ashley, North Charleston and Summerville.
The final day for first dose appointments at the Vaccination Drive-Thru will be May 15. Anyone who would like to schedule an appointment at the Drive-Thru can do so by going to rsfh.com/vaccine or call 843-727-DOCS.
“Our Vaccination Drive-Thru at the Coliseum has exceeded patients’ expectation with its convenience, location and speed of delivery,” said Jim Bowron, associate vice president of the Primary Care Integrated Practice Network. “Convenient access to care is a hallmark of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare brand. We’re excited about this next phase of bringing the vaccine out into the community and making it even easier to access.”
Roper St. Francis Express Cares serve as front doors to our healthcare system. The sites, which are open daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., offer walk-in care for most non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses.
More information will be shared in coming weeks as to how, when and where patients will be able to access the COVID-19 at Express Cares. The vaccine offered will continue to be the one created by Pfizer.
