Wednesday, September 4, 2019 - Roper St. Francis Healthcare partners with SC National Guard for patient transport

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is gearing up for whatever Hurricane Dorian sends our way by partnering with the South Carolina National Guard to provide patient transport in case of flooding in downtown Charleston.

Our downtown Roper Hospital has many specialized heart and surgical services who will remain accessible to patients thanks to the South Carolina National Guard’s Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV).  Patients would be stabilized at one of our other two facilities (Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital or Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital) before being transported downtown.

All three of our hospitals and our emergency department in Moncks Corner will remain open during any severe weather. Special medical teams started Wednesday morning and will be working on a rotational basis for the duration of the weather threat.
