Roper St. Francis Healthcare is preparing plans to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to those who are 70 years old and older.
Gov. Henry McMaster and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced that beginning Jan. 13, any South Carolina resident aged 70 or older, regardless of health status or preexisting conditions, can begin scheduling their appointment to receive COVID-19 vaccine.
Information about how to schedule a vaccination will be posted to www.rsfh.com by Jan. 20. Protecting our patients who are 70 years and older is of paramount importance.
We also are working through the logistics of determining how many additional doses we will receive from Pfizer, which must be kept in ultracold storage, as well as how to properly transport and administer this life-saving vaccine.
We started administering COVID-19 vaccinations on Dec. 15, which was less than one month ago. As of Monday, we had received a total of 12,675 doses and administered 7,010 doses to healthcare workers. That’s an average of roughly 250 vaccinations per day.
