Roper St. Francis Healthcare “Light Our Walls” display launches tonight at all four hospitals
All four Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals will be illuminated in red and purple beginning tonight for three nights to commemorate one year of caring for COVID-19 patients.
Roper St. Francis Healthcare is recognizing the hard work of its teams, honoring those who survived COVID-19 and remembering those who did not. The red lights will represent the care teammates and doctors provide while the purple will symbolize the generations served. Those two colors also are the brand colors for Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
One year ago, a patient walked into an outpatient office on the Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital campus with COVID-19 symptoms. That patient would go on to test positive for COVID-19, be treated and eventually recover. Since then, RSFH has cared for about 2,000 COVID-19 inpatients, performed 102,000 COVID-19 tests and administered nearly 52,000 doses of the life-saving vaccine.
“This past year will have forever changed us, but we are stronger,” RSFH President and CEO Dr. Jeff DiLisi said in a message today to the healthcare system’s teammates and physicians. “The community thanks you for your heroism. I thank you for your sacrifice. Our patients thank you for saving their lives.”
To honor those who lost the battle with COVID-19, RSFH teammates and physicians will also pause for a Moment of Silence and Prayer at noon on Wednesday, March 17.
