RSFH launches Healthy Hair Program
The Office of Community Health is excited to announce it is launching in July a new outreach program called Healthy Hair for local hair stylists.
The aim of the program is to train stylists to spread health messages with their clients and discuss how a person’s hair can help uncover certain health conditions such as stress, diabetes and hypertension.
Hair stylists have a unique opportunity to engage with people and talk to them about what their hair can tell them about their health.
The program will launch in July with an initial focus on stress, including causes and mitigation strategies. We will hold a one-hour training session with the stylists every six months on a new topic. Each session will include information from a local hair expert as well as RSFH teammates to discuss the specific health condition.
The other health-related issues we plan to cover in this series are diabetes, hypertension, anemia, and menopause to name a few.
We will be looking for content experts around the focus topic for each session to provide stylists with the resources they need to have conversations with their clients.
If you are interested in being a trainer for this program, please email Community@rsfh.com for more information.
