Expanding monoclonal antibody infusions at Roper Hospital
Roper St. Francis Healthcare expanded its new monoclonal antibody infusions by opening a new site at Roper Hospital in the space that formerly housed the Research and Innovation Center.
Infusions also will continue at Moncks Corner Medical Plaza.
The monoclonal antibody drug is a one-time treatment that delivers manmade neutralizing antibodies that bind to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The treatment only is available to outpatients and should be completed within the first 10 days of the disease. This product has the best data among outpatient treatment options to support its use against the current COVID variants.
Patients must meet eligibility requirements, have a doctor referral and have symptoms of COVID-19.
The healthcare system will have the capacity to infuse 24 patients per day with REGN-COV.
