Book Club
The Book Club is offered in partnership with the James Island Branch Library. The club is reading and discussing Digging to America by Anne Tyler on Tuesday, September 9, 2 p.m. and Playing for Pizza by John Grisham on Tuesday, October 14, 2 p.m. Books are on reserve at the James Island Branch Library.
AARP’s 55 Alive Driving Course
Brush up on your driving skills with AARP’s Drivers Safety Program. This two-day, defensive driving course is taught by Clyde Mizzell, AARP volunteer. Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, October 14, 9-1 p.m. $10 for members and nonmembers.
Great Decisions
Great Decisions is a foreign policy discussion group. Please review the reading packet prior to the meeting date (available at the front desk.) Free for members and $5 for nonmembers. Wednesday, September 17, 3-4:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 15, 3-4:30 p.m. Topics are to be announced. Free for members and $5 for nonmembers.
Wine Club
Join the wine club for a relaxed, social evening. September features Argentinean wines and October’s topic is German wines. Thursdays, September 25 and October 30, 5:30-7 p.m. No charge for members or nonmembers, however participants voluntarily take turns purchasing the wines to be tasted each month.
Lowcountry Investment Club
The Investment Club studies and invests $30 per month in the stocks that are voted on by the club. Non-club members may attend the meetings as observers. Tuesdays, September 9 and October 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Free for senior center members and $2 for nonmembers.
“Parlez-vous Francais?”
Bring your own brown bag lunch and join us on Wednesdays, September 10 and October 8, 1-2 p.m. for lively, interesting conversation in French. Try out your French or simply enjoy discussing a topic in a foreign language. This session is hosted by Lyn Breck who lived, worked, and studied in a French speaking country for twelve years.
Cerebral Calisthenics
Learn brain fitness at this exciting class called Cerebral Calisthenics. Wednesdays, September 17 and October 15, 10-11 a.m. Free for members and $2 for nonmembers.
Men's Breakfast Club
This club features local speakers on current events and breakfast. Free for members and $7 for nonmembers. Thursday, September 11, 8:30—9:30 a.m., Roger Biggerstaff, beekeeper on Johns Island and Thursday, October 9, 8:30-9:30 a.m. Ellerbe Dargan with The Nature Conservancy, S.C. Chapter.
Journey to Excellence Book Club

Digital TV
An anchor from ABC News 4 is visiting the center on Thursday, September 25, 10-11 a.m. to talk about the switch from analog to digital television starting in February. Many TVs will stop working, so get your questions answered now at this program. Free for members and nonmembers.

Have questions about Medicare Advantage? Gary Scott, Humana Representative, presents on what Medicare Advantage entails and options in SC on Thursday, October 2, 10-11 a.m. Light refreshments served. Free for members and nonmembers.
